This just in from an ex barcar rider now living in mid-town.
Thanks, Daniel
Read this in a soft, soothing tone.

Picture yourself near a stream...
Birds are softly chirping in the crisp, cool mountain air...
Nothing can bother you here...
No one knows this secret place...
You are in total seclusion from that place called The World...
The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with a
cascade of serenity...
The water is clear...
You can easily make out the face of the person whose head you're
holding under the water...

There now... feeling better?

What great idea!!
The 6:02 out of GCT, currently, has been my decompression tank for the past ten years. With all the talk over the past several months over the elimination of the New Haven line "cafe cars" we need to be heard a little more. You know, those people whose salary we pay. Who represent our needs of
clean and always on time arrivals, their definition of coarse. This a great site.
Anyone care to write-up the 6:02's night at the New Haven Ravens game??

Ah.. the 6:07, erm, I mean 6:04, ah hell, 6:02 Field trip to the Ravens does deserve a report- and I just
happen to have the perspective of "A Man in the Field"...
The evening was off to a shaky start. Only a 5 of us were on the 4:02 out. There was cause for concern.
When the two two seaters arrived at the stadium, the clouds began to roll in. There were 4 others already there, Included among them was Doug, from the Wall of Heroes. As time moved on, folks began to trickle in... and just as they opened up the food pavillion, It
began to rain. We ate, and were subsequently forced off the aluminum deck when the lightning began.
Some of it was close to the stadium, and it was an incredible light and sound show. However, Wet is still wet.
After about an hour, it blew over, and food prep reconviened. It was base fare, and amazing how the
line grew after the storm. (Methinks that Others not from the party Pavillion had snuck in to reap the benefits of the party pavillion). As we ate and talked,
Some people came looking for Volunteers. As we are a giving and caring Barcar croud, we gave until it hurt. There was the Dizzy bat race; Sumo track, field, and wrestling; and the Swimming apparatus race.
Some of our members were mistaken for Baseball players, and others were thought to be slightly out of
their tree.
There was plenty of tragedy to accompany that fun filled evening, however...Many tried to ride the
Commuters tables without proper fare, and had to be escorted from said tables, "Tom Ryan" managed to
wipe out in the mud during the dizzy Bat race(despite his not leaving the pavillion), there was a need for someones mechanical skills during the evening, and one of the Sumo track/field/wrestlers was overcome with heat exhaustion and nausea after being in the suit
for the better part of 3 innings.
But all-in-all, it was a good time had by all, and I believe another trip is in the works for being
scheduled. Contact Greg B. for more details. See you at the Game, Sports fans!

"Wine Review No.
1..............................hmhmhmhmhmhm....................a full
moon..................March 12, 1998 .....................Jason will be out
tomorrow (Friday the 13th??) ........... the weekend fast upon
us...............yes, yes..............what does our
typical.........untypical......... "barcom.com" patron plan for the pre St.
Patty's day weekend..............knowing the deluge of green beer patrons will
soon be upon us..............the choice is difficult........................
ahahaha ................... .............for the luck of the
Irish............let's go to Spain............for value Spanish wines are
currently the vogue.................for tonight............might I suggest a
1995 "Vega Sindoa", a classic 60% Cabernet Sauvignon/40% Tempranillo blend
from Navarra.......................those are red wines for those accustomed
only to twist tops on the New Haven line.....................while your editor
prefers the 1994 ...............and even has a bottle or two stashed
away..............oh yes..........this 1995 wine will improve with a few years
of storage..................the price is right!! ...........U.S.$ (we must
quote in U.S. as publisher has assured the wine editor that in due course
"barcom.com" will have worldwide appeal)........6.99 to 8.49 per bottle (more
about the advantages and disadvantages of local distributors to follow in
subsequent columns)............. open the wine and let it breath
............... this is not wine for the amateur.................only the
price is for the beginner..........the cab/temp blend has a developed
taste.............tart at first............then soft and
enveloping...........................have a glass on tuesday
night.........................corked after a glass or two...........it will
bring joy to your lips when revisited on Wednesday after that hump day in the
office................... room temperature is a must.............this is not a
wine for drinking cool ...........................a spicy spanish
paella.............perhaps a tangy barbeque sauce................at 6.99 this
wine is for drinking..................find it if you
can.....................my fellow counselor Robert Parker, Esq. has awarded
the wine an 87 rating....................in my school age years an 88 was an
A-...........so 87 seems respectable.................can't find
it.............try the Borsao 1996 (RP 86- U.S.4.99 per bottle) a terrific red
blend (meritage for you onephiles) or the rare ..........make that extremely
rare............Alma 1996 (U.S.$6.99 - RP 87) ..................tease me an
your editor will treat you to a verticall review of the Alma success
story....................say yes to the refined taste of raspberry in that
wine!! Adios................or until next time..............."
